William Turner (1775-1851) John Mallord William Turner is born in London on 23 April 1775. As a young boy he doesn't not receive much education, but he gets to study art, and sells his own drawings. At the age of fifteen he is lucky to get a painting exhibited at the Royal Academy. It attracts much attention and he soon gets a studio of his own. As a member of the Royal Academy, Turner begins travelling throughout Europe. Just like Monet, he enjoys studying how the landscapes are affected by the weather and time of the day. His fine sense for light makes his paintings spectacular. Turner remaines successful his entire life, but becomes alienated from the rest of the world and finally refuses to sell his paintings. His last exhibition is held in 1850. The year after he mysteriously disappeares from his house, and when he is found several months afterwards, he soon dies, on 19 December 1851. Upon his request, Turner is buried in St. Paul's Cathedral. Read more about Turner here: http://www.ibiblio.org/wm/paint/auth/turner/.
