About Art-stArt
Content
Art-stArt was designed to give its visitors access to a first-class web
search engine, important news, and more useful features, while experiencing
art by world-famous artists — all at no cost at an AD-FREE web site.
Art-stArt features the following:
Google Web Search Engine — Google is probably
the best search engine in the world. From Art-stArt's index page, you
can enter key words in Google's search field, just as you are used to.
But not only that — we also provide you with links to Google's
Advanced Search page as well as Google's translation engine. If you
run across a phrase or a web page in a language you don't know, copy
the web address and paste it in this nifty translator.
New York Times Headlines — New York Times is
probably the world's most well respected newspaper. We provide you with
the top-ten news from the web site of New York Times. The news items
are updated 24 hours a day, and they are of US and international character. Click on a news item to read the story
on New York Times' web site (you might have to register, but it's free).
US and International Maps — MapQuest is the
leading provider of interactive maps, and also serves its users with
driving directions. But MapQuest is not only great online, in fact,
their maps are used by National Geographic in their US road atlases.
The link directs you to a web page on the MapQuest.com web site, where
you can search for cities and streets in most countries in the world.
Paintings and sculptures — Of course, the main
attraction of Art-stArt are the paintings and sculptures. We try to
"collect" pictures that are interesting in one way or the
other — for example, we might publish a picture of a painting
that is not well-known, but by a famous artist. Or, we might only publish
part of a picture, if we feel that detail is especially noteworthy.
Or, we might publish a painting or sculpture simply because of its extreme
beauty.
In addition, artist biographies are available. They provide you with
useful information about the artists, and there are also links to other
web sites with more detailed information about them.
Due to copyright reasons, only artists who have been dead more than
70 years are represented. Luckily, many marvellous oeuvres have been
produced between prehistoric times and the 1800's. In addition, we feel
that most museums focus on modern art (which in itself is not a bad
thing), so we hope to serve as a counterweight to those institutions.

Why Art-stArt?
Art-stArt is a non-profit service that we provide to you totally free
of charge. Why? Because we who stand behind Art-Start want more people
to enjoy the treasures of true art. We also happen to run a communication
company called Xenada. If you enjoy Art-stArt, please tell your boss
that we exist when it's time to re-evaluate your current web site....

The future development of Art-stArt is heavily depending on the response
we get from our visitors. By making Art-stArt
your personal start page and returning to it often, you contribute
to this development, and in the end, more features will be available.
And don't forget to spread the word!
On this page, you can see which awards Art-stArt
has won, before the many awards programs of the Internet became worthless.
Finally, you can read our legal texts here.
